My Brain is a Race Car
A story to help understand a neurodivergent brain.
Created and inspired when my daughter received the same diagnosis as me (ADHD + Autism), I wanted to gift her a book that help explained her brain's processes and needs, so I wrote one about mine! I use no big words or acronyms that result in 'what does that mean' and bring the reader/listener out of the story.
This book is an explanation of common traits in a neurodivergent brain. It gives examples of self regulation tools a child could use themselves to assist and work with / request the supports around them.
I envision my books be what I call ‘conversation openers’. My dream is that the book is read between adult and the child and then a chat about their individual selves and what can and could be done to manage, assist, and uplift.
In this book, you are not going to find explanations of specific tools or management approaches (such as medication, therapy, etc.) as that is an individual or tailored experience, instead use this book to talk about the what and why.
