A Good Goodbye

$15.00

I wanted to write a heartwarming exploration of the different ways we can say goodbye at school drop off, told in rhyme and keeping my illustrations bright, inclusive and connecting. I hope this book guides young readers through the process of creating a positive and meaningful goodbye routine, and emphasising that the best farewells begin long before the classroom door (a bit of planning goes a long way, even if it's just planning the goodbye action itself).

Each page presents a different child’s experience of their “good goodbye,” showcasing various creative and heartfelt ideas that I have done with my daughters or seen other families do at the start of the school day. From drawing hearts on hands to sharing special handshakes, or choosing from a Goodbye Jar,  there are so many ways children can establish comforting routines that ease their transition from home to school.

The book also highlights the importance of mutual care and connection, noting that its natural to miss loved ones but reassuring readers that these feelings are shared and valued. With a focus on personal choice and emotional security, A Good Goodbye offers a range of ideas for creating a farewell that resonates with each child’s unique needs and preferences., I truly hope that it sparks the conversation for you and your little one to find your Good Goodbye too.

All my love, Nell.

P.S. Do you get a book that has some extra blank pages at the end? This is pretty normal for independently published books - sometimes when we write stories and the page count isn't ideal for the binding process the printer will automatically fill in the missing page count with blanks. Just some extras!
